Who We’re Looking For
Engineers at D2M are an integral part of our Product Design teams and support D2Ms continued growth. Success at D2M is measured in the areas of Technical Leadership, Culture, Client Relations, and Commerce.
Curiosity: Shows a curiosity about how things work, how people think, what people feel, and how society reacts to all of the former.
Technical Performance: Executes complex design tasks using Solid Works (for MEs) and other standard engineering tools. More senior engineers are viewed as team leaders by providing insight and guidance to team members on design problems.
Culture: Inspires others to achieve excellence and influence peers in a collaborative fashion. Mentors other staff, fostering creativity and infusing our team with enthusiasm. Looks forward to happy hour every Friday.
Client Relations: Effective at simplifying complex technical concepts and communicating issues and solutions to our clients. Will meet and exceed clients’ expectations by demonstrating professionalism and competence.
Commerce: Demonstrates an understanding of D2M’s business model by striving to help the team complete projects efficiently while maintaining the highest levels of quality. Able to network with professional associates to attract business to D2M.
Impeller Design Expert
Impeller design expert to develop compact, low-noise, low-cost blower for consumer application. Operating point is approx 1.5psi at 5cfm and assumed configuration is two-stage centrifugal.
Mechanical Engineer
Engineering Capabilities:
- Technical depth and breadth within mechanical engineering field and expertise using skills to solve multidisciplinary system problems that add value for our clients
- Experience working with industrial designers, user researchers, electrical engineers, software engineers, manufacturing engineers, and product marketing in a collaborative team approach
- Facility with analytical methods and exceptional knowledge of engineering fundamentals
- Familiar with designing with injection molding, castings, sheet-metal, etc..
- Able to work in our model shop to make prototypes and test set-ups
Experience and Education:
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
- 3-D CAD modeling expertise in SolidWorks and/or ProE Wildfire
- Expert knowledge of manufacturing processes including molding, casting and sheet metal
- Experience debugging production tooling and helping debug pilot assembly process
- Past-times, hobbies and obsessions
Senior Electrical Engineer
Minimum Requirements:
- A BS, MS, or PhD in EE or CS, or equivalent experience
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Good documentation practices
- Success in taking several designs through to high-volume production
With 10 or more years of experience in several of the following areas:
- Embedded systems hardware architecture and design with modern 16- and 32-bit CPUs and DSPs
- Digital and mixed-signal PCB design and implementation
- Consumer product design using embedded microcontrollers
- IO bus implementation (PCI, USB, ISA, AGP, etc.)
- Peripheral component design (Ethernet, memory subsystems, etc.)
- Experience with hardware drivers and low-level firmware
- Low-power design techniques for battery-operated systems
- Sensor interfacing and simple analog signal conditioning
- Production test methods
Senior Software Engineer
As a member of a cross-functional team consisting of electrical, mechanical, firmware and software resources, our Senior Software Engineer you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including architecting, designing, debugging and implementing new applications that extend through the medical technology, consumer electronics, sustainable energy and industrial markets. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the direction of D2M’s software and firmware development efforts by establishing and maintaining process and methodology standards. Also most of our designs involve tight integration of electronic and mechanical systems, so a high degree of creativity is required to solve problems and create solutions which do not have textbook solutions.
Given our highly interactive engineering environment, you must be committed to, meeting commitments and have a positive and energetic attitude. Our ideal candidate must genuinely thrive in a fast-pace engineering environment. Interactions at all levels of Management and the ability to work with multiple tasks to meet deadlines will be critical to your success. Our ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal/external customers and possess a keen ability to prioritize while not loosing sight of the details.
Minimum Requirements:
- A B.S. or M.S. in CS plus a minimum 10 years of experience
- Experience with various embedded OSs (Linux, Windows CE, etc)
- Product design using single-chip microcontrollers and microprocessors
- C and Assembly for embedded applications (e.g., running on Atmel, MSP, ARM, PIC, or 8051’s)
- C++ for embedded x86 and real-time environments; Visual Studio
- Hardware drivers, test routines and low-level firmware
- Low-power design techniques for battery-operated systems
- Product test methods, fixtures and programming in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Good documentation practices – specifications, test plans, code comments
- Success in taking several designs through to high-volume production
- Design and validation of software in real-time environments, including hands-on bring-up of hardware and firmware
Internships
D2M, Inc is seeking energetic and team oriented engineering students to join our firm as a part of our Internship program. We are always looking to identify talented individuals for possible future employment, while at the same time providing students meaningful projects that are designed to expose you to a ”real-world” work environment. We are looking for technically talented, entrepreneurial individuals who like to solve tough engineering problems in unique ways.
Our Interns will be provided the tools and guidance that allow this to truly be a hands-on educational experience. Our Interns work alongside other experienced engineers on ongoing projects related to basic design and development of electro-mechanical products. The goal of the Internship is to provide students with a learning experience while contributing to the product development and success of D2M, Inc.
